Pre-tax math

How does using my HSA/FSA save me money?

HSA and FSA accounts were created so individuals can use pre-tax money to pay for expenses that treat, mitigate, or prevent a diagnosed medical condition. Because HSA/FSAs use pre-tax money, you're getting more purchasing power for the same earned dollar.

An individual can contribute up to $4,150 pre-tax to an HSA per year ($8,300 family + $1,000 catch-up at 55+). FSAs allow up to $3,200 pre-tax per year. Most customers save an average of 30% on Happy Aging when paying through Truemed.

Without HSA/FSA $79

Post-tax dollars on NAD+ Advanced. Already taxed at your bracket rate.

With HSA/FSA ~$55

Pre-tax dollars through Truemed. Save the income tax you would have paid.

Common Questions

HSA/FSA accounts use pre-tax dollars. Spending $79 from your HSA on Happy Aging is roughly equivalent to spending $55 from your post-tax paycheck. That works out to about 30% in savings, depending on your tax bracket. Rather than pay taxes on income and then spend it on health items, qualified customers can use pre-tax funds to invest in root cause interventions.
Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) are programs that let you set aside pre-tax dollars for eligible healthcare expenses. If you're unsure whether you have an HSA or FSA, check with your employer or insurance provider.
Yes. Select Truemed at checkout and pay with your HSA/FSA card as you would any other credit card. If you don't have enough HSA/FSA funds, you can split the payment with a regular credit card.
Yes. Pick "credit card" inside Truemed checkout. After your purchase, Truemed emails instructions on submitting the receipt to your HSA/FSA administrator for reimbursement.
The items in your Truemed Letter of Medical Necessity are qualified medical expenses in the same way a visit to the doctor's office or pharmaceutical product is. Food, supplements, and other wellness purchases qualify as medical expenses if they treat or prevent an illness and a doctor substantiates the need. Your Truemed LMN satisfies all IRS requirements to make your wellness spend fully reimbursable.
No. There's no cost to you when shopping with a Truemed partner merchant like Happy Aging.
HSA dollars can be used all year long. FSA dollars expire at the end of the year and unused money usually doesn't roll over. Spend remaining FSA dollars before December 31st so you don't lose them.
Usually 2-5 hours. Some cases require additional review and take 1-2 days. If you don't see it, check spam, then email support@truemed.com.
Truemed's services are for individuals who have HSA or FSA accounts (or who plan to fund one during open enrollment). Ask your employer about HSA/FSA enrollment options.
